Four Escape Death As Home Burned
Four sound sleepers barely escaped early last Thursday when fire destroyed their Wolcottsville home and most of their personal possesions. Awakened by a noise,
they first thought it was hail beating against their bedroom window. Mrs. Walter Martin, a Lockport telephone operator, and her sister in law, Mrs. Wilfred Mietz, discovered the second story of the house in flames. "We aroused my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Mietz, and barely got out before our escape was cut off" said Mrs. Martin." "The roof fell in just as we got outside." Akron and Wolcottsville firemen responded but were unable to save the. house, which was owned by Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Mietz. A few articles of furniture were saved from the lower floor but the occupants of the house lost almost everything they owned.
