    • Ernest August Isaac Leder GASPORT — Ernest August Isaac Leder, 75, of Quaker Road, died Wednesday, July 4,2001, at his home after a long illness. Born Dec. 27,1925 in Mt. Jewett, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert Henry and Rose Neitche Leder. Mr. Leder served in the U.S. Navy and then made a career in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired Dec. 1,1973 with the rank of sergeant. He earned five medals for good conduct in the European Theater of Operations during World War II, Atlantic and Pacific service serving with the United Nations troops, expert rifleman and Korean Presidential Unit Citation. He served from Feb. 15,1943 until July 31,1964, then in the reserves until 1973. He then operated a gas station in North Carolina. Later, he retired from Allied Chemical in Niagara Falls and then worked in the Kmart in Lockport. Mr. Leder was a member of Faith Bible Baptist Church in Medina. He was an avid woodworker and provided more than 500 for second graders at Barker School. He also was an avid photographer. Survivors include his wife, Rebekah Baehr Leder, whom he married Dec. 12,1987 at Faith Lutheran Church in Newfane; two sons, John (Ruth) Leder, of Richlands, N.C., and Robert Leder, Aurora, N.C.; a daughter, Theresa (Tommy) Cavanaugh, of Aurora; a step-son, Andrew (Peggy) Hillman, of Brockton; a step-daughter, Sara (Mark) McKee, of Gasport; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Anne) Leder, of Cattaraugus, and Hugh (Lois) Crean, of Olean; a brother-in-law, Philip (Judy) Baehr, of Appleton; a sister-in-law, Ruth (William) Ferree, of Gasport; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Theodore Leder. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main St., Gasport. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Faith Bible Baptist Church, 3064 North Gravel Road, Medina, with the Rev. Glenn Kosiorek officiating. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery, Gasport. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Niagara Hospice or to the Faith Bible Baptist Church, Medina.
