      Claribel L. Martin, 88, of Wrobel Towers, a volunteer foster grandmother at local hospitals, died Tuesday (March 12, 1996) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a lengthy illness. A native of Maza, ND, the former Claribel L. Frerichs worked for International Paper Co. for 33 years until the company closed its mill in Niagara Falls in 1967. After she retired, Mrs. Martin volunteered as a foster grandmother. She was a longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholz. Her husband, John N., died in 1951. Services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday in St. James Church, 2437 Niagara Road, Bergholz.

      Claribel 1. (Frerichs) Martin, 88, of Wrobel Towers, Niagara Avenue, died Tuesday (March 12, 1996), after a lengthy illness. She was born in Mazda, N.D., on June 7, 1907, the daughter of Herman and Clara (Retzlaff) Frerichs. She was the widow of John N. Martin, who died in 1951. Mrs. Martin was employed at the former International Paper Co. in Niagara Falls for 33 years, until it closed in 1967. After retiring, she was a volunteer foster grandmother at local hospitals. She was a longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church, Bergholz. Mrs. Martin is survived by many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and great great-nieces and great great-nephews. She was the sister of the late Viola Parris, Adrian Frerichs, Walter' Frerichs, Lester Frerichs, Theodore Frerichs and Herbert Frerichs. There will be no prior VIsitation. The Rev. David B. Menz will conduct services at 11:30 a.m. Friday in St. James Lutheran Church, Niagara Road and Rohr Street, Bergholz. Interment will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield. Memorials may be made to the church. Arrangements were made by the DuBois Funeral Home.
